The Law Offices
of Eric D. Shevin practices exclusively in the area of State and Federal criminal
law. Mr. Shevin's practice has been based in West Hollywood and has served
all of Southern California since 1992.
Mr. Shevin obtained his Bachelor's degree at San Diego State University in
1989, and, after completing a clerkship for Senior Judge Bernard Revak of
the San Diego Superior Court, he began his career with the Juvenile Division
of the San Diego County District Attorney's Office.
Mr. Shevin received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Diego
in 1992, and briefly worked as a civil litigation attorney. In 1993, after
deciding to limit his practice primarily to criminal defense matters, Mr.
Shevin returned to his native Los Angeles where he has practiced continuously
to the present.
In addition to representing clients throughout the State of California, Mr.
Shevin represents individuals nationally in both State and Federal Courts,
and has won victories for his clients in Hawaii, Louisiana, North Carolina,
Missouri, Ohio, New York, Nevada, Texas and Tennessee. Mr. Shevin also handles
civil and criminal forfeiture matters, appeals and writs.
Mr. Shevin prides himself in vigorously defending his clients in order to
achieve the best possible result in each case. Los Angeles Magazine, in conjunction
with one of the nation's largest legal publishing companies, Law and Politics,
conducted an exhaustive, peer review of every lawyer in Southern California.
The result was the selection of the top 5% of all attorneys in Southern California.
Mr. Shevin is proud to have been recognized as a Southern California Superlawyer
for 2004 and 2005. Whether defending a DUI charge or a Federal conspiracy,

Having dedicated
his practice to areas of criminal law, Mr. Shevin has gained specific experience
in areas of law affecting many criminal defendants. Mr. Shevin has extensive
experience in challenging illegal search warrants and illegal police conduct.
Mr. Shevin has won dismissals in cases due to illegally obtained evidence;
illegal traffic stops; illegal police operations; illegal searches; unauthorized
destruction of evidence and illegally obtained confessions.
Mr. Shevin is a member of the NORML Legal Committee, dedicated to the reform
or marijuana laws. Since the passage of Proposition 215, The Compassionate
Use Act, Mr. Shevin has become an outspoken advocate against the prosecution
of sick people. Mr. Shevin has defended hundreds of medical marijuana cases
throughout California, with the vast majority resulting in complete dismissal.
As an attorney, Mr. Shevin has filed motions in Federal Court in an attempt
to prevent Federal interference with the Compassionate Use Act. In addition,
Mr. Shevin has extensive knowledge of cannabis yield ratios, medical efficacy
of marijuana, in addition to medical marijuana experts who testify on issues
of dosage and government cultivation guidelines.
