Seminars and Teaching
Stephen J. Fisch grew up in Central Florida and came to California in 1997 to attend college at UCLA, where he gained firsthand experience in law enforcement while working at the University Of California Police Department as a community service officer. Mr. Fisch worked with police officers on a daily basis and became a field training officer for the community service program. He was also the director of risk management, a member of the judicial board for the Interfraternity Council and vice-president of Alpha Epsilon Pi.
After graduating from UCLA, Mr. Fisch remained in Southern California and attended Loyola Law School in downtown Los Angeles. He he graduated among the top 20 percent of his class and passed the California State bar exam on the first attempt. Mr. Fisch is briefly appears in the documentary film "A Lawyer Walks Into A Bar.
Mr. Fisch began working with Mr. Shevin as a law clerk in 2004. In his nearly 10 years of practice as an attorney, Mr. Fisch represents clients in all stages of criminal litigation from pre-arraignment investigations with law enforcement to appeals of jury trials to the appellate courts. Mr. Fisch defends clients in administrative hearings involving the California Department of Motor Vehicles, the California Department of Real Estate and other state and local agencies. Mr. Fisch also practices civil litigation including collection cases, forfeiture cases, restraining orders, writs and other various disputes. Mr. Fisch was named a Rising Star by Los Angeles Magazine for Criminal Defense in 2010 and 2015. Mr. Fisch is an advocate for the reform of marijuana laws and takes pride in representing medical marijuana patients, caregivers, and collectives in criminal and civil settings.
Ryan M. D’Ambrosio is an associate in the firm’s criminal defense practice, handling both state and federal cases.
Mr. D’Ambrosio received his J.D. from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, receiving an additional honors degree in entertainment transactions. Before attending law school, Mr. D’Ambrosio earned a bachelor of science in business from Linfield College.
Mr. D’Ambrosio has represented clients in all stages of criminal proceedings and has extensive knowledge of the state and federal laws governing narcotics, organized crime, and violent crimes. Mr. D’Ambrosio represents clients accused of a range of felony and misdemeanor cases.
Ruey Slotnick graduated magna cum laude from National University of Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Science in paralegal studies. She was also awarded a Master of Science from National University of Los Angeles in business administration with a concentration in alternative dispute resolution.
Ruey is an American Bar Association certified paralegal and is an active member of the Los Angeles Paralegal Association. She is an accomplished political fundraiser and, in her free time, volunteers for the Harriett Buhai Center in Los Angeles, which focuses on providing low-income families with family law assistance. Ruey’s professional expertise, training and and passion for the cannabis industry make her a vital asset to the Shevin Law team.
